Congratulations to the JMS 6^th grade Math Team which placed 2^nd  in the Berry College Math Competition held on October 18, 2007 in Rome. The JMS team missed first place by only 5 points in a field of 17 teams. The team consisted of Sarah Smith, J. J. Lee, Will Lawson, Audra Westcott, Shelby Holbert, Will Avant, Kara Adams, and Joseph Hulsey. The team was coached by Tammy Duncan.

Congratulations to the JMS 7^th/ 8^th grade Math Team which placed 2^nd at the Berry College Math Competition held on November 6, 2007. Twenty- two teams from north Georgia were competing in the semi-annual event. Competing students must individually complete a 20 problem test and answer ten ciphering problems. They then work as a team to answer 5 problems. All events are timed. Students competing were:  Erin Hancock, Jordan Hill, Tyler Stargel, J. T. Weyman, Taylor Watson, Hannah Land, Taylor Boggus, and Chase Allday. The team was coached by Linda Weyman and Lynn Burns.

Congratulations to the JMS FFA Middle School Chapter for the following honors:

• 2006-2007 Middle School Chapter of the Year – only MS to have done this twice.

• 2006-2007 State Gold Emblem Chapter, one of 24 in Georgia including MS & HS.

• 2006-2007 National Three Star Chapter Award Winner, one of 53 in the U.S.

• Runner up to National Middle School Chapter of the Year.

The JMS FFA Chapter teacher and sponsor is Mr. Todd Dobson.

Congratulations  to Courtney Chapman  for winning the Northwest District FFA Junior Floral Design this Fall. She competed against 23 other middle and mostly high school  students for this honor. She is a sixth grader at JMS and will compete at the state competition later this year.
